Peptide Label Maker

Design a label for a laboratory research vial in your browser and download it as a PDF or PNG. Start from a catalogue product or your own entry, add the details you have confirmed, and set the size in millimetres. It's free, with no sign-up.

Made for labelling laboratory research vials. You download a file and print it yourself. Nothing is sent to a printer from this page.

This label is your own laboratory record, not a manufacturer label or certificate of analysis. A COA folder link opens the documentation available for that product. Compare the lot on your label with the lot named on the certificate.

This tool doesn't upload or save your entries. They are held only in this page's memory until you reset or leave. A calculator handoff link carries its values in the URL fragment, and any file you download contains what you entered. The site's existing analytics are separate from this tool.

How to print your label at the right size

  1. Download the PDF and open it in a PDF viewer.
  2. Select paper that matches the file: your label size, A4 or US Letter.
  3. Print at Actual size or 100% scale, with Fit and Shrink turned off.
  4. Test on plain paper, check it with a ruler, then print on label stock.

See Adobe’s PDF page-size instructions. Printer settings and printable areas vary.

Choosing label dimensions

Start from something you can measure. Use a ruler or calipers on the straight part of the vial between the shoulder and the base, or read the dimensions printed on your label stock. A vial's capacity doesn't tell you its label area, so enter measured millimetres rather than relying on a nominal size.

If the label wraps around the vial, only part of it faces you at a time. Choose a width that keeps the most important details readable from one side, and a height that sits comfortably inside the usable area.

Larger labels give text more room and allow a QR code. On very small labels, a few fields at a readable size work better than many fields squeezed in.

Single label, sheet or image

The single-label PDF has a page exactly the size of your label. It suits label printers whose software lets you set a matching custom label size.

The A4 and US Letter PDFs repeat your label in a grid with 10 mm page margins and 2 mm gaps between labels. The grid is generic and isn't aligned to any brand of pre-cut label sheet. Print it on plain paper or full-sheet label stock and cut the labels apart.

The PNG is a 600 dpi image of your label for software that imports pictures. In that software, set the print size to the same millimetre dimensions you chose here.

What to put in each field

Name is the only required field. Use the name you keep in your own records, and for a blend, include enough detail to tell it apart from similar preparations.

Labelled amount is the quantity stated for the product, not a measured value. For concentration, enter only a figure you have confirmed or calculated, including its unit.

Copy the lot or batch exactly as it appears on the vial or its paperwork, including letters and dashes, so it can be matched later. Preparation date is the date you prepared the solution. Keep notes brief. On small labels, put extra detail in your lab notebook instead.

Bringing in a calculator result

Reconstitution Guidance, the Peptide Blend Calculator and the Serial Dilution Calculator each offer Create a vial label once they show a valid result. The values arrive as editable fields. Check them against your calculation before printing.

Reconstitution Guidance transfers the nominal concentration from the labelled mass and final volume. The blend calculator transfers the total concentration, marked as a total, and places component amounts in the notes. The serial dilution calculator transfers the final tube and its concentration derived from your known stock. It doesn't carry over the original powder mass, because that isn't what the tube contains.

If you change a calculator's inputs, the link is removed until a new valid result appears. This keeps an outdated value from reaching your label.

Peptide label maker questions

What size label fits a peptide vial?

That depends on the vial and your label stock, not on the vial's capacity. Measure the usable area and enter it in millimetres. The presets are starting points you can change.

Why did my label print at the wrong size?

Usually the PDF was scaled during printing. Print at Actual size or 100%, not Fit or Shrink, and select paper that matches the file. The on-screen preview isn't calibrated, so check a test print with a ruler.

Can it print directly to a NIIMBOT or another label printer?

No. The tool doesn't connect to printers over Bluetooth or USB. Download the PDF or PNG and print it from your printer's own software, with a custom label size that matches your file if the software allows it. We can't confirm that any particular printer will handle the file.

Which label material should I use?

Ask the label stock's manufacturer whether it suits your vials and working conditions. The exported files define the layout only. They don't account for adhesive, finish or printer type.

How many copies can I print at once?

Between 1 and 100. With an A4 or Letter layout, the tool shows the rows, columns and pages your copies need before you download.

Does the label maker calculate concentration or an expiry date?

No. It records the values you enter or bring from a calculator. Use one of the three calculators for concentration arithmetic. The tool doesn't set expiry dates or suggest storage conditions.

Why isn't the QR code option available?

The label must be at least 60 × 30 mm, and you need to have chosen a catalogue product. The code can open that product's listing or its COA folder where one is available.

What if my name, lot number or notes don't fit?

Text wraps and shrinks within a set limit. If it still doesn't fit, the tool shows a message and pauses downloads instead of cutting text off. Enlarge the label or shorten optional fields such as notes.

Do I need to use the previews before exporting?

No. The previews are optional. PDF and PNG export works the same with or without them and uses the label size you selected.

How accurate is the vial wrap estimate?

It is a calculation only. Circumference equals pi times the diameter you enter, compared with the label width. It does not check your label stock, print scaling or how the label sticks, so measure and test a printed label yourself.
